MDUC #34 - Easel Card

I wanted to make a Get Well card to cheer up my sister in law, unfortunately she ended up back in hospital after suffering some complications after surgery, but she is now back home recovering. The Magnolia Down Under Challenge this week is an Easel Card, and I have been wanting to make one of these for ages. So put two and two together and what do you get - an Easel Get Well card!!!

I coloured her with my Stampin' Up! Inks and Aqua Painter and I added some crystal effects to the raindrops and the puddle. All cardstock, DSP and ribbon is from Stampin' Up!

It really needed a bit more embellishment, but I needed to get this photographed and sent off, otherwise my sister-in-law will be better before she even gets the card - although to see her back on her feet in a matter of days would be the best gift of all.

I hope you are having a good start to the week.

Bag of Cards

This was another project from the current UStamp event (check out the new UStamp event here). It was designed by the brilliant Becky Roberts. I used the Happy Moments stamp set (from Sale-A-Bration) and the Sincere Salutations stamp set.

It consists of a super easy bag (it does have two handles, you just can't see the other one in the photo). I chose a colour scheme of Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip and Kiwi Kiss/Old Olive. The DSP for the bag was from the Hostess Level 3 - Hand Drawn Bundle.

The cards with the bird cage were the first ones that I made - I loved the way they turned out. The DSP for these cards was from Urban Oasis and Walk in the Park (now retired).

The next two cards uses Urban Oasis, Walk in the Park and DSP from the Hand Drawn Bundle.

The final two cards uses Baja Breeze, Walk in the Park and Tall Tales DSP. It is a little different to the design in the project (I was struggling a little to recreate it in the colours that I wanted, so went with a different design).

Hope your having a good week.

Blog Candy from Paula

The wonderful Paula is going to be starting a new enterprise to design blogs and she is offering a blog revamp as Blog Candy - check it out here and enter to win.

Paula is a talented card maker and scrapbooker, and has even done a stunning video of a recent Stamp Camp. I know she is going to be brilliant in this new venture, and I can't wait for her to get started. My fingers are crossed that I may be lucky enough to win - I definately need a blog revamp.

Another Card in a Box

This time I made the Card in a Box with a separate lid. I have made this style of box (but without the 'card' factor) a lot for Christmas and always loved the versatility and variety of looks you can get from it - now with a card inside is another variety to add to the collection.

When you open it up, it can reveal a message, a photo, or you can keep it simple (like mine). I loved this Designer Series Paper, unfortunately it is now retired. The stamp set is from Sale-A-Bration catalogue - Happy Moments (loving these sets).

Hope you have had a good weekend.

Basket or Box??

I first saw this basket/box on Leonie's blog (check it out here). Angie from Chic n Scratch also has a video tutorial on how to make them (see here). I have to say, it is very quick and easy to make. I used the new Kaleidoscope DSP, this would be great for Easter, maybe filled with some shredded paper and Easter Eggs - YUM.

I love the weekends : )

Card in a Box - UStamp

I am doing "UStamp with Dawn and Friends - with Love 2010" at the moment (wow that's bit of a mouthful - check it out here). A lot of the projects this time have a Valentine theme, but they can be adjusted for other things too.

This project was called a Card in a Box and was created by the talented Jenny Moors (check out her blog here).

You can put a small treat inside the box and when you open it, it opens up to be flat. I used Stampin' Up's new Designer Series Paper - Kaleidoscope (which is available in the Summer Mini Catalogue), and the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Whimsical Words. I punched out some flowers using the Boho Blossoms punch to decorate the outside.

You could easily mix it up to put messages or photos on the other panels.

Butterfly Punch

I have seen so many fantastic cards using the new Butterfly Punch from Stampin' Up!, so just had to order it and the Butterfly Prints stamp set (all from the new Summer Mini Catalogue).

I made another box (see the previous here) and the new Kaleidoscope DSP. I used the Butterfly Punch but didn't punch all the way through, then added some Apricot Appeal DSP behind it (it's a little difficult to see the butterfly - but he is there).

Hope you are having a great week.

Workshop Cards & Treat Holders

I had a workshop last weekend and decided to come up with a design that could be used for Valentine's Day or easily changed for any other occasion. This is the card and treat holder I came up with.

I used the En Francais background stamp from Stampin' Up, it was stamped in Sahara Sand onto Kraft cardstock, then I sponged the edges to give it an aged affect. I sponged the heart as well which was cut out using a die and my cuttlebug. The sentiment was from the Whimsical Words stamp set out of the Sale-A-Bration catalogue. Some Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon finished it off. The treat holder can hold a snack size chocolate bar (I used Kit Kats and Freddo Frogs). It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but the treat is stapled into the treat holder at the top then the front panel is added to cover the staple.

This was the other version that can be used for any occasion. I used the Polka Dot background stamp and Versamark to add some detail to the cardstock. Simple but cute.

Happy Moments

I have been interstate for work this week and was so dying to get home so that I could play with my Sale-A-Bration goodies well finally last night I got the chance - YEAH.

I have been wanting to do an acetate (clear) card for some time, but was struggling to come up with a design I liked. Well when the Happy Moments Stamp Set came out in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue I got a bit of a brain wave (it happens occasionally - lol).

This card uses some new Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! called Kaleidoscope which is available now in the Summer Mini Catalogue. I have to say I wasn't entirely sure about this paper as it uses colours that I haven't really used, but I really liked the way this set turned out.

I used the parcel stamp from the Happy Moments stamp set, and stamped it on three different papers and pieced it together. As I had cut off the bow from the stamp (it was way to hard to cut out), I replaced it with some linen thread.

Some So Saffron ribbon finished the card perfectly.

I also made a pillow box from acetate and used the same design to decorate it.

It has turned out to be a beautiful day today in Melbourne, I hope you all are having a great day too - no matter what the weather is doing in your 'neck of the woods'.
